MPP Vic Fedeli had his cheque book out this morning as he announced more than $768,000 in provincial funding for five different projects in the Nipissing district.

Four of those projects are receiving funding through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation with a total of 16 full time jobs expected to be created.

“This is an important message to let the people know that Northern Ontario is part of our open for business thrust that we are on and there is money flowing into here in Northern Ontario for these businesses to expand,” stated Fedeli to the media during the event held at the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce Wednesday morning.

The biggest winner was H & M Enterprise, which will be getting $425,000 to aid in purchasing new equipment and expand its metal fabrication, machining and welding plant.

Odyssey Fluid Power, will use $128,322 to help renovate a recently acquired commercial building and expand its drilling operations.

“We are helpful and grateful for the support we are getting from the FEDNOR program and Mr. Fedeli that has allowed us to do a proper expansion in our business in the acquisition of a new building, renovate it and go after work not only in Ontario but globally,” said Glenn Whyte, Owner and Operator of Odyssey Fluid Power.

Another $92,427 will go to the Capitol Center to help pay for the installation of a specialized sound system in the performing arts facility with the goal of using that to help attract bigger acts to downtown North Bay.

A total of $86,817 is going to Epiroc Canada Inc. to help them establish a research and development team to further develop and improve its products for the mining, oil and gas industries.

Fedeli also announced today that Discovery Routes will receive $36,000 in funding through the Rural Economic Development (RED) program towards a marketing strategy to promote the Voyageur Cycling Route.
