Due to an issue with a transformer, there has been a loss of power at école secondaire Northern Secondary School. Power authorities are advising that power is not expected to be restored today, Thursday, October 28 and possibly Friday, October 29.

As a result of today’s power loss, students have been safely accommodated at White Woods Public School for the day. Buses transporting students who arrived at Northern Secondary School will depart the school at the end of the day, as per usual, to return students home. Students who are within walking distance of the school will be sent home once they have made contact with their parents or guardians.

An update on the re-opening of Northern Secondary School will be conveyed through the media and on the Near North District School Board website at www.nearnorthschools.ca . Parents, caregivers and staff will be kept up-to-date by phone, and are urged to consult their media outlets and the Board’s website for information.

During this power outage, students and parents will be able to access the school’s website for course work at www-nor.nearnorthschools.ca.

The Near North District School Board would like to thank the power authority workers and Board staff who are working diligently to deal with this concern.
