Police release names of train collision victims

A couple from Strong Township were killed in the crash

OPP have released the names of the two people killed when a train struck a pickup truck in South River Monday morning.

Police say Cecil Aho, 51, and Bernadette Laing, 52, both of Strong Township died in the accident.

On October 14 at 10 a.m. police were called to the accident on Machar-Strong Boundary Road in South River, Machar Township.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators conducted an analysis of the scene. Canadian National Police Service is assisting with the investigation.   

The Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, South River Machar Fire Department and Sundridge-Strong Volunteer Fire Department all responded to the collision.
