Police re-visit 22 year old Cold Case

“Somebody may remember something back from 1994 and they may have had interaction with David and didn’t necessarily know it or thought the information was irrelevant at the time."

Norah Chevrier says life has changed dramatically for her family on June 23rd, 1994.

On that day her brother David Allen Chevrier went missing and hasn’t been seen since.

“I had a couple nervous breakdowns and my sister is in Toronto, and I know that she suffers too,” Norah said about the impact the loss has had on the family.

Chevrier, suffered from schizophrenia and operated at the level of a three to five-year-old due to a brain injury he suffered in a car accident. He was 25 years old at the time of his disappearance.  Police say he was last seen leaving his McIntyre street group home around 4 p.m. that day allegedly en route to the Centre of Friends in downtown North Bay.

Detective Constable Dave Wilson is the North Bay Police Service lead investigator into the missing persons case.

“There are various locations he could have attended, however he didn’t show up so for the most part that’s the main last sighting of him when he left back in June and walked out at 4 p.m.,” said Wilson about the cold case.

Wilson, who wasn’t even a police officer at the time of Chevier’s disappearance, hopes the media event will help jog somebody's memory on the 22nd anniversary of David’s disappearance.

“Somebody may remember something back from 1994 and they may have had interaction with David and didn’t necessarily know it or thought the information was irrelevant at the time,” said Wilson.

For the Chevrier sisters, they don’t expect to see their brother alive again - they feel something awful happened to him.  Now, they just want to find out what happened.

“I don’t like to say it but I kind of get the feeling someone murdered him,” stated his 46-year-old sister Pauline to BayToday in the fall of 2015.

“I feel the same way, I think something did happen to him and I think maybe it happened near Duchensay Falls or something,” added Norah during the media conference.

“It’s frustrating not knowing where he is and we are just hoping that something will come up that will be able to help find him.”

David Chevrier was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and grey track pants, known to talk to himself and squints. Of First Nation descent, he has a dark complexion and is about 6 foot tall, 170 pounds with brown eyes, black hair and sported a crew cut hair style.

If anyone has a lead on this case please contact the North Bay Police Service at (705) 497-5555 and ask for Detective Constable Dave Wilson.
