KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – Following an investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Professional Standards Bureau into a domestic violence complaint, a Kirkland Lake OPP officer was arrested and charged this morning – Friday, November 4, 2011.

The 57-year-old male Provincial Constable has been charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Assault with a Weapon, Assault, Threatening, and Careless Storage of a Firearm, contrary to the Criminal Code.

The officer is a 10-year member with the OPP from the Kirkland Lake Detachment and appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice today, November 4, 2011, in Timmins. The officer has been suspended from duty.

As with all domestic related incidents, the OPP does not release the name of the charged person to protect the privacy of victims of domestic violence.
