Police make heroin arrests

The execution of two search warrants revealed approximately $10,000 worth of Heroin in a Second Avenue West Home and A Hardy Street residence.

A drug bust yesterday by the North Bay Police Street Crime Unit has resulted in a "significant drug seizure" according to police.

As a result of an ongoing investigation into heroin trafficking, police arrested two people in a vehicle where a small amount of heroin was found. The two were charged with simple possession.

Further arrests were later made where currency was located on another suspect. 

The execution of two search warrants revealed approximately $10,000 worth of heroin in a Second Avenue West home and a Hardy Street residence.

Simon Bartolo, age 60 of North Bay is held in custody and charged with: 

  • Two  counts of trafficking heroin
  • One count of possession for purpose of trafficking and
  • One count of possession of property obtained by crime

As well, a 30 year old woman, and a 22 year old man, both of North Bay are charged with;

  • One count of possession for the purpose of trafficking heroin

They were released from custody with a court date in November.

A police spokesperson told BayToday that that there isn't much heroin in North Bay, and that this bust will "significantly reduce or eliminate heroin consumption in the city".
