Police issue 13 tickets in past week for lockdown infractions

It's the end of week three of the provincial lockdown, and while North Bay police say the majority of people have been compliant with the restrictions, some have not, and been fined.

During the last week police investigations have resulted in a number of adults receiving offence notices;

  • Four tickets in regards to not complying with a 14-day isolation returning to Canada. Specifically “Failure to Comply with an Order Prohibiting or Subjecting to any Condition the Entry into Canada”. Each ticket carries a fine of $1,130.
  • Two offence notices for “Make a False or Misleading Statement to a Quarantine Officer, Screening Officer or Environmental Health Officer.”.These tickets are $340 each.
  • In regards to reported social gatherings and not abiding by requirements of the provincial lockdown four separate investigations resulted in a total of seven adults receiving $880 tickets for failing to comply with the Reopening Ontario Act. 

This is currently the last scheduled weekend of this provincial lockdown say police. "We will continue to respond to calls regarding the current lockdown restrictions. This is the super bowl weekend and virtual gatherings are encouraged as indoor gatherings are still not permitted."
