Canadore College Police Foundations students will be partnering with on-the-job police officers this year through a unique new program.

On Thursday, December 4, Canadore College will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the North Bay Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police and the Anishinabek Police Service introducing the new Mentorship Program.

Through the program, 15 second year students will be paired with police officers from the partnering agencies. The mentorship will expose students to the working environment of the police officer which will help them prepare for the application process.

Students will also have the opportunity to make contacts and network in their possible future place of employment. At the same time the agencies will have the opportunity to assess the suitability of the students as potential recruits.

President Barbara Taylor will be signing on behalf of Canadore, Chief Paul Cook will be signing on behalf of North Bay Police Service, Chief Superintendent Scott Tod will be signing on behalf of the O.P.P. and Inspector Claude Chum will be signing on behalf of the Anishinabek Police Service.
