Police divers recover body

Algonquin Provincial Park – On Wednesday, March 25th, 2009, OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit located the body of Victor ROSS in Cedar Lake, Algonquin Provincial Park, Nipissing District.

Victor ROSS, age 49 and his son Adam ROSS, age 24 of Petawawa, Ontario were snowmobiling in an area where the Petawawa River meets Cedar Lake on Monday, March 23rd, 2009. Victor ROSS and his snow vehicle disappeared into open water. Adam ROSS attempted unsuccessfully to rescue his father.

Mattawa OPP along with CFB Petawawa, CFB Rescue Trenton, OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit and the North East Region SAVE Unit attended the location. Recovery operations had been underway since Tuesday, March 24th, 2009.

A post-mortem is scheduled for ROSS on Thursday, March 26th, 2009 at the North Bay General Hospital.
