Police conduct criminal take down on Highway 17 near Rutherglen

A spokesman told BayToday that a man is in custody for various criminal offenses

.OPP are still on-scene this afternoon on Highway 17 between Trout Pond Road and Pine Lake Road near Rutherglen.

Not much information yet, but police say it was a traffic stop and is in the preliminary stages of an ongoing criminal investigation.

An officer said they are presently conducting a forensic review of the scene and will issue a news release later.

Police are taking evidence from the scene and a vehicle has been towed.

A spokesman told BayToday that a man is in custody for various criminal offenses.

The scene is not collision-related but officers are investigating multiple criminal offenses involving the suspect.

A witness says an OPP K-9 truck was on scene with its windows smashed out by the suspect.
