Police charge four after police chase

Two local men and two local women have been charged in connection to a police chase that ended on Birch's Road around noon on Monday.   

It is alleged that on Monday, July 9th, 2018 at 11:37 a.m. North Bay Police attempted a traffic stop on Pinewood Park Drive in North Bay. 

The vehicle, a black Mercedes sedan, fled northbound on Pinewood Park Drive at a high rate of speed in a manner dangerous to motorists and pedestrians. 

The car, which was determined to be stolen, continued north and turned onto Birches Road and ended up going into the ditch. 

Several North Bay Police Officers attended the area including the OPP Canine Unit. 

The four occupants tried to flee the area however police were able to locate all the occupants and they were arrested without incident. 

The driver was determined to be Jean-Paul Tombu. 

During the search, police identified two people who were in possession of illicit drugs.

As a result of the investigation North Bay Police arrested and charged 2 men and 2 women:

Jean-Paul Tombu, age 22, of North Bay with:

  • One count of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle;
  • One count of Flight from Police; and
  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000.00.

Ryan Pilon, age 22, of North Bay with:

  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000.00;
  • One count of Possession of a Controlled Substance. (Methamphetamine)

Zoe Gates, age 20, of North Bay with:

  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000;
  • One count of Possession of a Controlled Substance(Marijuana); and
  • One count of Possession of a Controlled Substance(Cannabis Resin)

A 21-year-old of North Bay woman with:

  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Seized as part of the investigation was;

  • 13.5 Methamphetamine pills
  • 35 grams of Marijuana
  • 0.3 grams of Cannabis Resin

All four people were later released from police custody and will appear in the North Bay Courthouse on August 14th, 2018 in answer to the charges.
