Police Board extends Chief Tod's contract another year

North Bay Police Services Board, in a news release, says it has extended Chief Scott Tod’s contract "for at least another year."

There is also the possibility of an additional two-year extension.

Tod has served as chief since 2019. Prior to that, he served as deputy chief from 2016 to 2019.

Previously, he served as Deputy Commissioner, Investigations and Organized Crime for the OPP from 2010 to 2015. He originally joined the OPP in 1982 after serving for several years as an officer in the Canadian Forces, Maritime Command.

“Under his leadership, the North Bay Police Service has made significant strides in many key areas from community safety to next-generation tech adoption to homelessness and addictions response," said Board Chair Richard Stivrins, "Importantly, through his years serving as Chief, he has implemented numerous health and wellness initiatives to support the mental health needs of sworn and civilian members and their families. The members of the Police Services Board are encouraged by his continued work for the people of North Bay.”

Over the coming years we, as a service, will continue our work to enhance our responsiveness and increase community trust; I look forward to my role in that work.”
