The North Bay Police Association has launched the Aaron Northrup Memorial Bursary in memory of the well-respected officer who passed away in April 2022.

Staff Sergeant Aaron Northrup had over 20 years of service with the North Bay Police and was very passionate about giving back to his community.

"He dedicated countless hours volunteering throughout the North Bay area and encouraged others to do the same," the police association stated in a release.

The key aspect of the bursary application is highlighting the applicant’s dedication to their community through volunteering.

"The bursary will provide a one-time financial support payment of $500 each to two students graduating from a North Bay high school and entering their first year of a post-secondary program geared towards a career in policing," the release continued.

"The Bursary Committee is looking forward to reading each application and learning more about the applicant’s community involvement. Applications are being accepted until April 30th, 2023," the release stated.

The successful recipients will be advised by the end of May. Applications are available through North Bay high schools.
