Police and Canine Unit on early morning downtown search - (UPDATED)

Officers made a pair of arrests early Wednesday morning related to an ongoing investigation and the execution of Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant of a residence on the 800 block of McIntyre Street East yesterday, officers with the North Bay Police Service’s Street Crime unit arrested and charged two residents. 

As a result of an ongoing investigation and the execution of Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant of a residence on the 800 block of McIntyre Street East yesterday, officers with the North Bay Police Service’s Street Crime unit arrested and charged two residents. 

Cole Joseph John McCarthy, age 32, of North Bay was charged with:

  • three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking; and
  • one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

Thomas Bernard Boyer, age 48, of North Bay was charged with:

  • three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking; and
  • one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

As a result of the investigation, police seized:

  • approximately 4 lbs of marijuana;
  • two digital scales;
  • bundles of Canadian currency, estimated at approximately $5000;
  • approximately 800 Oxycodone 80 milligrams tablets; and
  • approximately 100 grams of cannabis resin (hash).

The drugs and currency seized have yet to be reconciled.

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $77,000.

Both accused were held in custody pending show cause bail hearings.
