PM says 'Happy Pride North Bay' as week of events kicks off

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is getting in the spirit of North Bay Pride Week, releasing a video wishing everyone "Happy Pride."

"You're helping build a community and a country where more Canadians can be who they are and love who they love," he says in the video,

He called it an opportunity to celebrate the diversity that makes Canada strong.

The week kicks off today with a flag raising at City Hall at 4 p.m.

This will be followed by the Mayor Debate at 7 p.m. which you can attend in person or stream. 

Tomorrow is a Drag Persona Contest at the Capitol Centre.  the live Show Starts at 7:30 hosted by Lemon and Jada Shada Hudson. Tickets are available at capitolcentre.org (pay what you can pricing). 

Friday at 7 p.m. is a Trans March starting at the Kiwanis Bandshell on the waterfront.

That same night at 10 is Yacht Party | Cruising with Freddie from the King's Landing dock.The Chief Commanda will return at 1 a/m/. Music by DJ Neon Nomad FREE snacks provided by Noble Steed but tickets are $25.

The PRIDE Parade runs Saturday, starting at 555 Oak St East 555 Oak St. East. from noon to 130. It heads Southeast on Oak St. East, turn left onto John St. then  left onto Main St. East then left onto Memorial Drive and right to the Kiwanis bandshell  

A free PRIDE Picnic follows at the Kiwanis Bandshell.

Saturday night  is the North Bay Pride | Out On The Hill event  at Laurentian Ski Hill 15 Janey Avenue, with performances by Ria Mae and Bif Naked. Hosted by Alice Rose and Geri Atrick, with opening act by Mackenzie Drive. Free entry, accepting donations at the gate.

It all concludes Sunday at 7 with the North Bay Pride Film Screening of ‘PRIDE’ at the Capitol Centre.
