The owners of two Pit Bull Terriers which escaped from their Powassan residence two weeks ago have euthanized the dogs.

After escaping, the Pit Bulls attacked a Cocker Spaniel and its owner on Main Street, in Powassan, resulting in the death of the dog.

Ontario Provincial Police confirmed today that the dogs had been put down and that no charges would be laid against the owners in relation to the incident.

Police said the owners have fulfilled any obligations a formal court process would be empowered to impose.
