Pinewood Park Drive reduced to one lane until new year

Work is required for the replacement of the Cooks Creek culvert at the new casino

One of the busiest roads in the city will be reduced to a single land until the end of the year.

The upcoming traffic disruption is along Pinewood Park Drive at the Cooks Creek crossing.

It's part of the infrastructure repairs connected to the new Cascades Casino that sits next to the creek.

"Works on Pinewood Park Drive are scheduled to begin next week for the replacement of the Cooks Creek Culvert located 50m south of Decaire Road. As a result of the works, traffic on Pinewood Park Drive will be impacted," says a news release from the city.

Pinewood Park Drive at Cooks Creek will be temporarily detoured around the construction area and reduced to one lane of traffic by way of temporary traffic signals.

"It is important to note that a load posting restriction (single vehicle unit = 13 tonnes, two-vehicle units = 23 tonnes, three-vehicle units = 31 tonnes) will be implemented given the age and condition of the former railway bridge being used for the detour," adds the release.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting.

Due to potential delays and load restrictions, motorists and heavy truck traffic are encouraged to use Highway 11.
