911 service as well as telephone service has been restored to all the effective communities.

*****

The OPP would like to advise a fibre optic cable has been cut near Timmins. This has affected telephone services along Hwy 11 between Kapuskasing to Timmins as well as South Porcupine, Gogama, and surrounding areas.

Affected communities are in the process of establishing emergency contact centres. Public will be notified of report in locations as they are identified. In the meantime, please attempt to call using cell phones if operational.

For persons living in Cochrane, for emergency services please contact the Cochrane Fire Department at 705 272-6758 or attend the department.

*****

The OPP would like to advise the public that some areas in the North East Region may have their phone services affected. It appears that 911 and Long Distance services may be affected. Police are advising if you require emergency service attempt to contact these services using a cell phone or attending the emergency facility.

Affected communities are working towards identifying Emergency Reporting Centres in the event of complete communication failure.

As these centres are identified, the affected communities media outlets will be notified.
