Pet goat bludgeoned to death

The pair has been charged with killing animals other than cattle

RAINY RIVER, Ont. – A pair of 18-year-old men have been charged for bludgeoning a nine-year-old girl’s pet goat to death with an axe.

Ontario Provincial Police on Tuesday said on April 2 they responded to a report that the animal had been killed at a residence in Rainy River.

Further investigation led police to the two suspects, Skyler Ivall of Rainy River and Brandon Penner of Lake of the Woods Township.

The pair has been charged with:

  • killing animals other than cattle,
  • trespass by night and
  • possession of weapons for dangerous purpose.

The two accused are scheduled to appear in criminal court in Fort Frances on May 11.
