Police believe that on evening of Thursday, November 7, someone broke into an apartment in the 2500 block of Trout Lake Road in North Bay and stole a Crossman air pellet handgun and a balaclava.

Then on Friday, November 8 shortly after 1 a.m. a lone robber entered a convenience store located in the 2600 block area of Trout Lake Road in North Bay.

"The suspect, who was wearing a balaclava, pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded cash," says police spokesman John Schultz. "After receiving a small amount of cash the suspect made a threat and left the store. The victim immediately contacted police who began an investigation."

The next day on the 9th shortly after 7 p.m. two robbers entered a gas bar located in the 1500 block of Seymour Street.

"Both wore balaclavas and one pointed a handgun at the clerk demanding cash," said Schultz. "After receiving cash from the clerk threats were made and both fled on foot. Officers responding located the two outside the gas bar and arrested them. When arrested the young person had possession of the Crossman air pellet handgun that had been reported stolen from the November 7th break-in."

The police investigation revealed evidence indicating the young person was responsible for the November 8 robbery as well.

Justice Martin, 19, of North Bay has been arrested and is charged with:

  • Armed robbery
  • Using a firearm while committing an indictable offence
  • Uttering death threats
  • Possession of property obtained by crime.

A young person, who cannot be identified, has also been arrested and is charged with;

  • Two counts of robbery with a firearm
  • Two counts of disguise with intent
  • Two counts of using an imitation firearm while committing an offence
  • Uttering death threats
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

Both remain in custody pending bail hearings.
