Pain in prisoner's foot not the fault of police say SIU

A case involving a man arrested by North Bay police has been terminated by the acting director of the Special Investigations Unit.

The incident occurred last month in North Bay.

According to an SIU report, at approximately 3 a.m. on July 16, the 25-year-old man was arrested in the area of Regina Street and McGaughney Avenue for a reported domestic matter. 

Later that morning, as the man was being taken to court, he complained of pain in his right foot. Following his court appearance, the man was taken to hospital for examination.  

Acting Director Joe Martino said, “The medical records do not indicate that the man suffered a serious injury. Accordingly, I have terminated the investigation into this incident.”
