On Thursday night, North Bay Hydro presented a convenient free screening of An Inconvenient Truth, the Academy Award™ winning documentary about former US Vice President Al Gore’s campaign against Global Warming.

“This is the most successful event we’ve ever put on for the public” said Penny Charette of North Bay Hydro. Over 800 people attended the screening and had an opportunity to hear guest speaker Dr. David Pearson, the Co-Director of the Science Communication program at Laurentian University in Sudbury. Dr. Pearson put into context how global warming is changing our lives here in North Bay and area.

This event brought together a number of other local groups concerned about the environment. “The public had a great opportunity to ask questions and learn how they as individuals can change this global warming trend” explained Charette. North Bay Hydro offered an additional incentive to people who attended the free screening. Everyone that brought in a high wattage incandescent light bulb exchanged it for a free environmentally friendly compact fluorescent bulb. Over 600 compact fluorescent bulbs were given out last night.

North Bay Hydro, who has long been committed to environmental conservation and responsible energy consumption, was thrilled by the opportunity to present the free screening of this eye-opening movie experience.

North Bay Hydro would like to thank the public for their enthusiasm, attendance and encourage them to go to www.northbayhydro.com for energy saving tips.
