North Bay residents who park on the street overnight can still get a parking ticket until April 15 even if the snow is completely gone.

Despite the lack of snow remaining, the City of North Bay by-law officers are still out in full-force handing out tickets for overnight parking violations.

Last week a source at Canada Post told BayToday he saw more than 15 overnight parking tickets early last Thursday morning while on his route in the north end of North Bay.

Gord Young, communications director for the City of North Bay says motorists thinking of parking on the street should ignore the weather and focus more on the calendar.

"Despite the mild weather in recent weeks, the City's overnight parking restrictions are still in effect until April 15th," Young told BayToday in an email.

Of note, the parking ban goes until 7:30 a.m. and sources say tickets have been handed out around 6:45 a.m. last week.

"Today's conditions demonstrate that winter weather can still occur, underscoring the necessity to maintain the restrictions to enable plows and other equipment to proceed with clearing operations."

According to the City of North Bay, overnight on-street parking bans are in effect Nov. 1 to April 15.

However, in all municipal lots, overnight parking bans are in effect from Nov.1 to March 31.
