MP Anthony Rota reports that this year's Canada Summer Jobs program will create 602 jobs among 167 businesses in Nipissing-Timiskaming.

The $2 million program provides wage subsidies locally to employers from not-for-profit organizations, the public sector, and private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees, to create quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years.

Funded employers are not restricted to hiring students — all youth aged 15 to 30 years may be eligible participants.

“This investment will help young people in Nipissing-Timiskaming develop their skills and gain paid work experience to successfully transition into the labour market,” said Rota in a news release. “The Canada Summer Jobs program has proven to be a valuable opportunity for young people in our riding get that first-time job experience and assist our small businesses in hiring and training young people.”

Rota says, "I strongly encourage young people in our area who are looking for work to go to Canada.ca/canadasummerjobs and check out the Canada Summer Jobs opportunities available for them in our community.”
