Oscar-winning actress dies

Actress Shelly Winters, winner of two Academy Awards, has died at 85. Winter won the Best Actress in a Supporting Role Oscar in 1960 for The Diary of Anne Frank and in 1966 for A Patch of Blue.

Winter won the Best Actress in a Supporting Role Oscar in 1960 for The Diary of Anne Frank and in 1966 for A Patch of Blue.

She was also nominated for Academy Awards in 1952 (Best Actress in a Leading Role) for A Place in the Sun) and in 1973 (Best Actress in a Supporting Role) for The Poseidon Adventure.

Her publicist says Winters died early today of heart failure at The Rehabilitation Centre of Beverly Hills.

She'd been in hospital since a heart attack in October.
