Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (Project “P”), OPP Electronic Crime Section and the North Bay Police Service have arrested and charged a North Bay father and son following an eight month child pornography investigation.
On December 14, 2011, police executed two search warrants in North Bay; one at the Hilltop Variety & Video business on Algonquin Avenue and one at a residence. As a result of this investigation, seven computers and external media was seized which contained images of child sexual abuse.
Edward RUTHERFORD, 54 years-old of North Bay, Ontario is charged with five counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
James RUTHERFORD, 18 year-old, of North Bay Ontario is charged with one count of Possession of Child Pornography and one count of Accessing Child Pornography.
The two accused will appear for a bail hearing on December 15, 2011 in the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, Ontario.
The investigation is continuing.
