The Almaguin Highlands OPP is investigating the theft of a dozen Fancy chickens from an Emsdale Road, Perry Township residence.

Fancy breeds of chickens are certain ornamental breeds that have special oddities setting them apart from other chickens, such as crests, feathered feet, beards,muffs, unusual colors, five toes, or other unique traits that noticeably stand out.  Many birds with Fancy Features are bred primarily for ornamental purposes,

Police are investigating and any person with information regarding the person responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.

OPP INVESTIGATE THEFT OF DIRT BIKE

On Tuesday August 9,  the Almaguin Highlands OPP investigated the theft of a dirt bike from a Whitney Road residence.
Sometime between Monday August 8, at approximately 1:00 p.m. and Tuesday August 9, at 7 a.m. someone stole a 2004 Kawasaki KL6 Enduro dirt bike.  The motorcycle is valued at approximately $4,000.

OPP CHARGE DRIVER WITH POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA

On Monday August 15, at approximately 3 p.m. the Almaguin Highlands OPP was conducting a R.I.D.E. program at the intersection of Bay Lake Road and Rochester Lake Road.  A vehicle approached the R.I.D.E. program and the driver was subsequently arrested for possession of marijuana.  Further investigation revealed that the driver also had a suspended drivers licence.

OPP charged Brett MARLES, 37 of Huntsville, with:

  • Possession of a schedule II substance, cannabis marijuana -  under 30 grams.
  • and two counts of drive while under suspension.

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday September 22, in Sundridge.
