OPP officer assaulted, cruiser damaged, after investigating family dispute

An OPP officer was assaulted after responding to a call of a family dispute on North Street, in Sturgeon Falls Saturday evening.

Police arrested one person, who had an outstanding warrant.

During transportation, the prisoner damaged a police cruiser, and had assaulted a police officer when being jailed. The officer was not injured and did not require any medical attention.

Parker Raymond, 21, from West Nipissing is charged with:

  • Mischief - renders property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective
  • Assault a peace officer

Raymond was held for bail court and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in February 3 in North Bay.
