OPP investigating fatal motor vehicle collision on Hwy17 West

OPP advise that Highway 17 east of the Scenic Lookout is open.

Commanda Township – Officers with the North Bay OPP and Traffic Technical Collision Investigators are currently on the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred earlier today on Highway 17 east of the Scenic Lookout approximately 10 kms west of North Bay.

Shortly after 12 noon, there was a head on collision between a van and a passenger car followed by a third vehicle, a passenger car being involved.

As a result, the driver of the west bound van died at the scene.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notifications.

The highway remains closed at this time with no local detour.
