OPP: Driver involved in collision charged with impaired

WEST NIPISSING, Ont. — One person was arrested and charged with impaired driving after Nipissing West OPP responded to a collision.

On December 1, 2023, shortly after 6 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on Arthur Street, in West Nipissing.

No injuries were reported.

One driver was arrested for impaired driving and then transported to the North Bay Police Service headquarters for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Heather Gillis, 40, from West Nipissing was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on January 4, 2024, in North Bay.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
