OPP: 9 charges laid relating to domestic dispute

The accused faces charges of assault, uttering threats, plus firearm and drug offences

CHISHOLM TOWNSHIP, Ont. — The North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid nine criminal charges relating to a dispute.

On January 31, shortly after 4 p.m., the North Bay Detachment Crime Unit responded to a domestic-related dispute involving threats and firearms. Officers attended a residence on South Shore Road in Chisholm Township and executed a search warrant on the property.

As a result of the investigation, a 54-year-old person from Chisholm Township was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault
  • Uttering threats
  • Mischief
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts)
  • Careless storage of a firearm (two counts)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance (two counts)

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice for bail by video in North Bay on Feb. 1 and was remanded into custody.  

Due to the domestic nature of the incident, police say the name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
