The North Bay and District Hospital Foundation’s case for support brochure Operating at the Speed of Life has raised funds and awareness to their cause, and is now collecting some award statues along the way.

Recently in Whistler, British Columbia at the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) and the Health Care Public Relations Association (HCPRA) joint conference, the Foundation received a second place Hygeia Award for this brochure.

The AHP and the HCPRA are two of the most respected educational organizations and advocacy bodies for healthcare fundraising and public relations in Canada.

Local marketing firm TWG Communications donated the creative design for the brochure, and their efforts were recognized by winning bronze at the prestigious Summit Awards, an international organization dedicated to recognizing excellence in marketing and communications.

Summit Award nominees compete in 17 creative categories against stringent standards. Last year's competition received approximately 3,000 entries from 20 countries.

The publication saw well-known photographer Ed Eng lend his talents by shooting local sport heroes Alison Herst and Steve Omischl, who helped lead fundraising efforts. To date it has helped the Foundation raise over $600,000 toward a $1million target to support the surgical equipments needs for the community.

The North Bay and District Hospital Foundation has the primary goal of providing ongoing resources for the best patient-focused care, education and research in a community-oriented, well-equipped health care setting for the benefit of patients served by the North Bay and District Hospital.
