Today marks the ninth official Ontario statutory holiday, and that leaves the city without transit and government offices, businesses and stores closed (including the Northgate and North Bay Malls) with the exception of convenience stores, gas stations and touristy items like the ski hill and skating rinks.

And with the closure of city hall garbage and recycling pick-up will be delayed a day.

Family Day is the holiday the McGuinty Liberals campaigned on during last October's provincial election.
