Representatives from the General Chairperson’s Association (GCA) which represents all unionized employees at Ontario Northland (ONTC) are extremely disappointed by yesterday’s news that a deal had been reached between the NDP and the Liberal government to allow the budget motion to pass today.

“Our members are shocked and dismayed by yesterday’s announcement that the deal reached did not include a provision stopping the divestiture of the ONTC”, said General Chairperson’s Association Spokesperson Brian Kelly.

“The GCA has asked for a meeting in North Bay with the NDP to get clarification on what transpired during their negotiations with the Liberals and what they see as the strategy going forward to stop the selloff of Ontario Northland during budgetary deliberations”, continued Kelly.

“At the same time we are meeting with our community partners Wednesday to discuss what our available options are as we move to the next phase of this campaign. We have no intention of going quietly into the night on this issue, this fight is far from over’, concluded Kelly.
