On the 22nd of June 2010 the North Bay Police Service Traffic Unit, along with the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, conducted PROJECT SCRAP, an effort of education and enforcement focused on the hauling of loads in the North Bay area.

Officers set up on Worthington St. E in North Bay, a high volume traffic area for hauling of scrap metal. As a result, 10 Provincial Offences Notices and 4 Written Warnings were issued for a variety of offences including insecure load and unsafe vehicle.

The North Bay Police Service Traffic Unit and the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario will continue this effort throughout the summer months in an ongoing, randomly scheduled basis in an ongoing effort to ensure the safe and efficient movement of traffic in the North Bay area.
