Odyssee Warming Centre Fun

Students raise around $400 for the Warming Centre.

There was pie throwing, taping students to the wall and even a students wrapped up like Christmas gifts and running through obstacle courses.

The fun afternoon event organized by students at Ecole publique Odyssee was done for a very good cause though, as around $400 was raised for North Bay’s Warming Centre.

“Last year we started to collect donations at the school for clothing and as students we figured why don’t we do something a little bit different so we decided okay let’s do activities so this idea started to evolve from there,” said event organizer Megan Lepoudre.

The students got some of the whacky ideas by looking up fun events on Pinterest. While it was all fun and games in the Odyssee gym, Lepoudre says the key is helping out the Warming Centre.

“It means making sure that people in North Bay are warm, making sure when they are coming into the warming centre they have food, they have the opportunity to get something warm to eat and drink,” the 16-year-old organizer said.

“As well get them something to put on their feet.  So for me it’s just a sense of making sure that everybody in North Bay is warm.”
