The North Bay Police have confirmed that the victim of the December 4 downtown assault passed away this Saturday, December 11.

"On Saturday, December 4 we had an assault involving an edged weapon that happened in the downtown core off Main Street in North Bay," said Scott Tod, North Bay's Police Chief.

"As a result of that, two individuals have been charged with attempt murder charges and we have recently learned the victim in that stabbing incident has passed away and the investigation will continue to determine whether additional charges or more appropriate charges can be laid."

On December 6, North Bay police arrested and charged a man and a woman with attempted murder. The police say the male victim was known to his assailants.

Sandra Dorothy Haggart, 34, of North Bay is charged with, "Attempt to commit murder."

Travis Stillaway, 26, of North Bay, is charged with "Attempt to commit murder" along with four counts of failure to comply with a release order.

Police are not releasing the name of the deceased at this time.

The North Bay Police say the victim's passing will likely mean the charges could be changed.

"We will consult with the investigators and the local crown attorney to determine what the appropriate charges will be," stated Tod.

"First off, our condolences to the family of the victim who was involved in this horrific, violent event, but we do believe the incident that happened on December 4  is connected to the death that happened on December 11, there is a strong connection."
