North Bay Para Powerlifter to compete at Worlds today

North Bay’s Jake Beaton is getting ready to compete at the World Para Powerlifting Championship this afternoon in Kazakhstan 

He’s entered in the ‘up to 72 kilo’ class event. 

Beaton is there with Canadian Coach Tracey Rice and another Canadian lifter, Dylan Sparks, who are both from Edmonton.

Beaton is also a longtime member of the North Bay Ice Breakers sledge hockey team.

Beaton, who suffers from Spina Bifida, has battled through health issues throughout his life. 

He hopes to have a solid performance and has already set his sights on set on trying to make 2020 Team Canada Paralympic team which will take place in Tokyo.
