North Bay on the Gulf

Here's a little something to warm you up during this frigid and seemingly interminable winter weather snap. BayToday.ca columnist Bill Walton sent us this picture of a clock in downtown Punta Gorda, Fla., a city located on the state's Gulf Coast.
Here's a little something to warm you up during this frigid and seemingly interminable winter weather snap.

BayToday.ca columnist Bill Walton sent us this picture of
a clock in downtown Punta Gorda, Fla., a city located on the state's Gulf Coast.

Look familiar?
It appears virtually identical to the one on Main Street here in North Bay.

The clock has no manufacturer's name on it - just
"Punta Gorda 1857 " - the year the town was founded, Walton says.

It was installed in 1988 with funds raised by the citizens of Punta Gorda.

Walton says there are quite a few North Bayites in the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda area.

"Maybe we should "twin" with the city and do citizen exchanges," he suggests.

By the way, Punta Gorda seems to be going through a cold spell of its own.

Right now it's 11 C there, with a forecasted high of only 21.

We'll take it!
