North Bay man wins lottery for second time

Terry Erny is certainly lucky when it comes to the lottery.

On Friday, Erny was identified as one of the one million dollar Maxmillions prize winners from the June 5th draw.

He purchased the ticket at the Mac’s on O’Brien in North Bay.

Lottery Deja Vu?

It’s the second big winning for Erny who, in a bizarre incident, discovered he was a $500,000 winner in a Maxmillions draw back on March 4th of 2011.

“It was the strangest thing: I drove by a store where I have never purchased a lottery ticket before, but something was telling me that I had to go in to this specific store and get a ticket. I passed by, but on my way home later I decided to listen to my gut and went in and bought a ticket,” Erny told Lottery Canada back in 2011.

However, soon after purchasing the eventual winning ticket, Erny says he misplaced his wallet and the ticket but found it under the seat of his truck a couple weeks later.  The next morning after finding his wallet he want to the convenience story to check his ticket and found out he won $500,000.

“I was in total shock. I’ve had a decade of very unfortunate circumstances, starting with a serious car accident in 2001, so this is like karma giving me back something,” said Erny, while at the OLG Toronto Prize Centre to claim his prize in 2011.

Obviously, that good karma is still following him.

Back in 2007, Erny and his family were recipients of a downtown home through Habitat for Humanity.

Erny isn't the only multiple lottery winner in Canada.  Alberta's Seguro Ndabene, arguably Canada's luckiest man, had won the lottery a total of six times, with the last winning ticket coming in 2009.
