Things are looking up for North Bay say a survey from U-Haul.

It says this city is number five in the U-Haul Canadian Growth city survey. using data analyzing Canadian migration trends in 2019.

North Vancouver, B.C., is the No. 1 Growth City,

The company gets its data from tracking one-way U-Haul trucks entering the city versus leaving it during the past calendar year and is not considered scientific.

Four Ontario markets – Trenton, Saint Thomas, Brockville and North Bay – round out the top five Canadian growth cities for 2019. Ontario has 19 markets among the top 25. Huntsville sits at number 14. Elliot Lake is number 19.

Officials looked at the net gain of one-way U-Haul trucks entering the city compared to leaving. It's not clear how having a college and university in the city skew the results.

The company admits U-Haul migration trends do not correlate directly to population or economic growth, but contends the Company’s growth data is an effective gauge of how well cities and states are attracting and maintaining residents.
