The Ontario Energy Board is warning consumers to beware messages with COVID-19 in the subject line claiming to be your utility, and that includes North Bay Hydro.
There are reports of emails, texts and websites sharing fake information about bill relief programs, refunds and alternative payment methods during the pandemic.
Meantime, North Bay Hydro reported last week customers were receiving calls about servicing their hot water tanks.
Officials ask customers to verify the phone number or call their services company to make sure the call is valid.
