Canadore College is pleased to present the launch of Rep 21, a new repertory theatre company in the city.

Rep 21 is a new theatre company comprised of talented Canadore students of the new Theatre Arts program under the artistic directorship of Rod Carley. The students, who will have spent six semesters learning various stage acting techniques, have a unique opportunity to test their training in a real world setting, building a theatre production from start to finish. Acclaimed actors David Fox and Jeff Miller are an integral part of Rep 21, teaching and acting alongside the graduates.

“By observing experienced actors like Jeff Miller and David Fox, by working with them, simply by participating in the building of a production from first rehearsal to first performance, a young actor learns the craft,” says Artistic Director Rod Carley.

Rep 21 will showcase three plays featuring leading roles for young actors: Jessica Goldberg’s Refuge, Nicky Silver’s The Altruists, and Stephen Jeffrey’s The Libertine. They will be performed during the first three weeks of July in North Bay followed by a one-week run in Toronto at Theatre Passe Muraille.

All are welcome to attend the launch of Rep 21 on December 15 at 11 a.m. in the Nipissing University Theatre. Guest speakers at the event include MPP Monique Smith and Canadore President Barbara Taylor. The students will be performing dramatic readings of the three plays that will be showcased during Summer 2007.
