The 4th Annual North Bay Chrysler Charity Golf Tournament was Sunday, May 29th at Pinewood Park. The event raised an all time high of $15,000 for the Paediatric Unit at North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC).

“Our experience inspired my family to give back to an organization that helped us when Caitlyn was a baby,” says Dennis Murphy, who organizes the tournament each year with his wife Elizabeth and daughter Caitlyn. “It’s important to us that the funds stay local, which is also why we feel our hospital is a worthy cause.”

This year, funds raised are helping purchase a second Philips Cardiac Monitor for the Paediatric Unit at NBRHC. The cardiac monitor provides information on the young patient’s heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and temperature.

“A cardiac monitor is extremely important as many young patients are heavily sedated for procedures,” says Linda Buttigieg, a nurse in Paediatrics. “When a small change is detected in their status by the cardiac monitor, a nurse can respond quickly and intervene before it becomes serious,” she says.

North Bay Chrysler Owner and Dealer Principle Ryan Farquhar says the golf tournament is an excellent way for the ‘Chrysler Family’ to have an impact on our community. “Each one of us will at some point need our hospital,” he says. “The Paediatrics Unit is a district referral centre for surrounding communities as well, which means children from as far away as New Liskeard and Huntsville will benefit from this equipment.”

“We are grateful to individuals and businesses in North Bay that support this tournament every year,” says Dennis. “Thank you to the golfers, sponsors who made this day possible.”
