Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is once again encouraging the nomination of local authors and publishers for the 2016 Speaker’s Book Award and Young Authors Award.

Now entering its fifth year, the Speaker’s Book Award recognizes works by Ontario authors covering historical, regional, cultural or parliamentary aspects of the province with special consideration given to works focusing on Ontario’s parliamentary heritage and on provincial political discourse.

The Young Authors Award, introduced in 2014, honours an Ontario author aged 18 to 30 whose publication offers a youthful perspective to the province’s writing scene.

“These awards are an avenue for highlighting the stories unique to our province and to showcase our great literary talent, including right here in Nipissing” Fedeli said.

Authors and publishers across Ontario are invited to submit eligible entries by Friday, September 30.

The winner will be announced at an awards reception at the Ontario Legislature in spring 2017. The winning book will be made available for sale at the Legislative Gift Shop and featured in the Legislative Library.
