French River - The Noelville OPP Detachment is looking for a student interested in working with the OPP Marine Unit.

Under the general supervision of an Ontario Provincial Police Officer the marine student will assist in aspects of marine policing such as conducting marine checks on recreational boaters for safety equipment usage, safe operations of vessels and related enforcement of statute law, such as the Criminal Code; Canada Shipping Act; maintenance of the vessel; records keeping (i.e. daily log entries, daily statistics for monthly submissions, note book entries); public relations related to the marine policing program and the OPP (i.e. marine displays); learn and assist with marine collision investigations and disabled vessels in distress.

Participate in special marine policing initiatives as appropriate and major marine functions where police marine presence is required. May be required to provide court testimony with respect to specific charges or marine incidents.

Successful candidate must have: strong swimming abilities, a valid Pleasure Craft Operators Card, minimum Ontario G2 Driver's Licence, CPR First Aid qualifications, good communications skills.
