No Way To End The Holiday Weekend

For the second time this holiday weekend residents of Art’s Lane just west of the city on Highway 17 witnessed an accident at their doorstep.

“We’ve lived here for three years and have never seen an accident and then twice in one weekend,” says Dolly Contant.

Hearing the screeches of the tires, Contant and her husband flew out their door.

“I was worried it was my mother, she was on her way out here … I didn’t know I could run that fast,” says Contant.

“We need a turning lane here something awful.”

OPP responded the call just before 4:30pm where they found one vehicle had rolled over in a ditch.

Officers at the scene say the truck was trying to pass other vehicles when it ran out of room and met oncoming traffic. To avoid a crash, the truck crossed the lanes, rolled over and came to rest in the ditch.

Aside from minor cuts, scrapes and bruises no one was seriously injured and officers had the scene cleared just before 5:30pm.
