The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit has been advised by Callander’s municipal office that water coming from their water treatment plant is discolored with an odour and abnormal taste.

It is understandable that this is concerning and unpleasant for residents.

However, all water test results to date are satisfactory and no health risks have been identified.

The Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) and the local office of the Ontario Ministry of the Environment are working together with a consultant to correct the situation.

Precautions are in place and the water disinfectant concentration has been constantly monitored as required by Ontario regulation.

Water samples continue to be analyzed daily for the presence of bacteria and flushing of the water mains is being conducted.

For health related questions about the water please contact the Health Unit at 705.474.1400.
For questions related to water plant operation please contact:

 Callander municipal office at 705.752.1410

 Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) at 705.499.1200
