Nipissing University is set to welcome its alumni home this weekend to reconnect with friends and their school while reminiscing about the glory days and generally having a great time at Homecoming.

The university expects more than 100 guests, from all over Canada and the United States, to attend Homecoming, July 16 – 19. Events begin Thursday, July 16, from 5 – 7 p.m. in Nipissing’s main foyer.

A number of activities are planned throughout the weekend, on campus and around North Bay. Highlights include a research open house, where alumni can learn about some of the leading research being conducted by Nipissing’s faculty; a juried art exhibition featuring works from alumni and faculty; a welcome home barbecue by the pond; a family beach afternoon at the North Bay waterfront; a cruise on the Chief Commanda II; and a farewell brunch, hosted by Nipissing President, Dr. Lesley Lovett-Doust, on campus.

“It’s going to be a great weekend. Everyone has been looking forward to this for many months now and I know our alumni are excited to get back to campus and see what has changed and to connect with friends,” said Tina Shunk, alumni relations officer and event organizer. “Nipissing prides itself on providing a great student experience and we all want that to translate into a wonderful alumni experience. It’s important that we stay connected with our alumni, they are among the best, most knowledgeable ambassadors for Nipissing University in their communities.”
