Nipissing Rotary delivers 'comfort packs' to seniors

Items were sourced locally to place in the bags

The Rotary Club of Nipissing has distributed approximately 110 "Seniors' Comfort Packs."

The event took place this past Saturday in partnership with the Golden Age Residence Residents' Council and the Nipissing District Housing Corporation.

The "packs" are individual bags full of items to bring some additional comfort to residents at the Golden Age residence on Worthington St. West in North Bay. COVID guidelines were followed while completing this project.

All deliveries were “contactless” with the Comfort Packs placed on the apartment doors of the residents by volunteers from the Residents’ Council.

The Rotary Club of Nipissing, with the support of a grant from Rotary District 7010, has sourced items locally to place in the bags.  Some items were purchased locally with others being donated or made by hand.

Artwork was provided by students from St. Hubert's School as well as handwritten cards from Rotarians and residents from Empire Living.

In addition to the cards and artwork, the Golden Age residents will receive a book, a magazine, a sweet treat, and handmade soap as well as a small bottle of hand sanitizer and some facemasks for their health and safety.

Special thanks to local businesses, Allison the Bookman, The Farm, Good Glaze and Vaughan Paper Products for their participation in this project.
